A couple of days ago I got into a dust-up with murph over his trying to sell his software via this forum.  To make a long story short, he is trying to sell for 500 pounds the "Muprh's Corner System" posted free on this forum.  I have two emails from a prospective victim asking me about it.

While murph and I were having our discussion, in steps thomasgrant to defend murph.  He states in his defense that the price is too high, but murph isn't selling anything.  He advised me to get my facts straight.  The facts were in his post and I advised he should read them.  Even quoted them for him.

thomasgrant is using this forum to promote his website which promotes items for sale.  Thus he is using this forum to garner sales.  I asked him nicely three times to remove the link in his posts and he would not.  As promised, I have deleted all posts of his I can find.  If there are any left, it's because I could not find them. 

Removing those posts may cause me to have to step down as CO-ADMINISTRATOR.  So be it.  thomasgrant could have been a gentleman and offered to remove the link until Victor had a chance to review it.  We have had a rule at this forum: No clickable links. 

In the last few days this dispute has caused me to miss about five winning crossings on the G.U.T. which amount to well over $100.  I don't need this grief in my life.

So if I'm a goner, I am goner.  I will remain, if permitted, as a member only and continue my studies and postings on the G.U.T.

If I'm never allowed to post again let me leave you with one piece of advice:  Listen to winkel and learn the G.U.T.  It IS the "Holy Grail".

You're just doing your job!! [And doing it exceedingly well, I might add.]

Would Victor really ban you for that?  Hardly... [Surely he wouldn't, would he...?]

And if your comment "If I'm never allowed to post again..." actually happens then I imagine members would leave the forum in protest.


Good for you for doing the 'right thing' without fear or favour.



And, by way of a postscript, I'd like to point out that one of the attractions of a site like this is the absence of advertising , and of people with itchy trigger-fingers always trying to flog you something.

That was why I deliberately chose NOT to list my website or ebook anywhere on this site or in my profile. And nor will I ever.

This forum needs to continue to remain a non-commercial zone to enhance its credibility and to provide a safe-haven from the vultures

Sam is not going anywhere Mate.....New rules are being implemented to stop all this BS type stuff.

The Moderating crew are putting the Final touches as we speak.

And besides if My Mate Sam was to go over this crap then I would walk away as well.

May I give my 2 cents worth?
I feel that there is nothing wrong with what you are doing,you are just getting rid of reads that shouldn't be made to the public or anything bending the forum rules.You are doing the right thing and doing your duty as a moderator.

I can testified to one thing and that is I bought my roulette bot pro from Thomas as for him using VLS as a platform for garner sales,I am not aware of this incident.

Personal signatures are to remain personal signatures and not a signature marketplace. After deliberation, we agreed that:

- Signatures will not go on the basis of some users who are perceived to misuse them, they are worthy and they add a personal touch to messages (the actual intent of forum signatures, just like forum avatars).

- No linking on signatures is to be allowed. This is our middle term, instead of making the feature dissapear, I am working on the techlogical means to not allow links to be entered on signatures.

Our new set of rules is hot and almost ready to go from the "debating oven"  

Ah! For you not to be surprised, spammers are also to have a harder time, they won't be able to post any link until the 10th post. Trying to post a link deems the message invalid and no post is entered to forum's database; prevention done by forum engine, no mod/admin intervention required.
This means for a spammer to swipe a link which lasts 0,1 min. from being detected (and have his message and user removed) he would have to make 10 posts first. Want to spam twice? gotta make 20 posts for less than 1 minute exposure.
I hope this starts detering spammers who signup to make a 1st post full of link & ads, if they still signup, they won't be able to post their links [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=lolk.gif]; granted, there are other new users who post useful links but they will have to post them as non-clickable links, omitting the nolinks:// and nolinks. part... real productive users aren't entering the forum with the intent to start advertising right? So we know from who the possible complains might arise, and no, once enforced this 10 posts prior linking rule won't go, this should have been implemented plenty of time ago, many spammers use their very 1st post for these purpose, well, not anymore Non clickable also forces any referral selling link to be exposed in full and -of course- to be easily spotted and removed

Our new set of rules is to make our board a better place, I can ensure that.
