They don't even have to rely on your luck, good or bad. They have the math on their side. They not only take all the losing bets but they even take a cut of the winning bets. They can't lose in the long run.

CASINOS DON'T CHEAT. However, we cannot say the same for Online Casinos, many cheat as of this writing.

A Dealer who cheats is very, very rare – 99.99% of the time it's an honest mistake. You can tell because if the Dealer is paying you too little, than too much the Dealer is either new or just having a bad day. We know about bad days, do we not? If you feel it's an honest mistake than there is a discrete way of telling the Dealer they made a mistake without drawing the pit bosses attention to it.
Simply point (don't touch) at the pile and say "SHORT STACK" just loud enough for the Dealer to hear you. If you were overpaid, point and say "TALL STACK". Yes, that's right if you are paid too much, tell the Dealer, win honestly it's more rewarding. Besides, they usually pick it up just as you are ready to rake it in. It could be embarrassing if you are an experienced player and they know you should have known better. Besides the Dealer can get in trouble if the pit boss, or the sky camera picks it up. You will make a friend and keep them out of trouble. If the SKY CAMERA happens to spot it and you didn't do anything about it they will think you and the DEALER are partners. If you keep the overpayment and then you happen to lose you will blame it on "GOD punished you." Do not take chances, play straight and when you beat them fair and square you get an earned "rush".
If the stack has a different color chip in it say "DIRTY STACK". Dealers who cheat are very, very, very rare and give a bad name to all those great Dealers. It's not easy dealing to drunks, loudmouths, sore losers, nuts and beginners. Not to mention, standing on your feet all day with your boss looking over your shoulder and 6 CAMERAS trained on you ALL day. Even with all that in a small Casino I caught a Dealer take one of my lost $25 Green Value lost Chips and slip it in the middle of a Blue pile of chips. No one caught it and the Dealers partner pocketed the chip. However, that's an exception in a less controlled country.
A CROUPIER (DEALER) may allow a last second announced bet if he knows the player, or if you have been playing the same system all the while. If there is a DISPUTE between you and the dealer, which is extremely rare, but can happen, feel free to quietly ask for the PIT BOSS. However, don't embarrass yourself and the dealer over a few dollars and make a big deal about it, but if it's big money then, the Pit Boss usually like to lean towards your view. Quite frankly, I have never met a PIT BOSS I did not like. In most casinos they take a video of everything that goes on, on each table so they can replay and check, so do not lie or cheat. We saw a fellow who made a big fuss and swore the dealer was wrong. They showed him a replay and boy was he embarrassed, especially after the stink he made.

It seems nobody trusts the dealers, not their boss not the customer...wouldn't you get a complex?
They deserve every tip they make and more. We try to be generous tippers.

Cut the Dealers some slack, be nice to them. Being nice is cheap and sometimes appreciated more than money. In addition, whatever you do don't throw tips or bets at them from across the table. Quietly place them on the Dealer's side of the table and when the Dealer points to them, or picks them up quietly tell them if it's a "tip (TOKE) for the Dealer", or where you want it to be placed, if it's a bet for you or for the Dealer. All tips are shared with all Dealers. The Pit Bosses do not share in the tips. However, if you are 1000% positive, a Dealer is cheating you can quietly ask the Pit Boss to replace the Dealer. They either know you're right and will change the Dealer or they are in cahoots and will not. If they do not change the Dealer walk out of the Casino and don't go back. We did that, just twice, after we placed our bets we picked up our chips while the wheel was turning, walked out and enjoyed the rest of our vacation elsewhere. It was easy to just walk since we were using value chips at the time. Enough on this, it's very rare anyway.
The next thing to realize is that a CROUPIER cannot place a ball in a specific #'s slot. Can he/she pick a color? What a joke! Is there such a thing as dealer signature? Yes, with pen and paper. If you ask them in advance which color he/she will hit and they hit it, believe me it's dumb luck. Well, we should not say dumb, after all the croupier is not gambling, we are. Allow us to get this myth over with once and for all. Do you realize how many openings there are? Do you realize how small a targeted number is? Do you realize that HUNDREDS of things interfere and change EACH spin's result? After each spin the CROUPIER picks up the ball and turns the wheel. The wheel turns one way at different push rates and declining speeds. The ball is spun at different times in the opposite direction at different push rates and it's speed declines. No two pushes of the ball and no two pushes of the wheel could be exactly the same or accurate. In most cases, the CROUPIER does not even look at the wheel, so how could they time when to push the ball. Then, there are all those pesky diamonds (canoes) that the ball hits and bounces off before it decides to drop in a slot. Then, it slows down only to again hit many other obstacles, the metal sides of the #s (called Frets). Even a piece of dust on the wheel or skin oil from the Croupier's fingers would slow the ball. Spin on ball such as back spin, forward spin, left or right spin, or even a combination of any two of these can change where the ball drops as much as 1 revolution in either direction. An unleveled wheel will change the results.

Roulette is totally and absolutely random. NO ONE CAN PLACE ANYTHING ANYWHERE. NO ONE OR THING CAN PREDICT ANYTHING, EXCEPT OF COURSE THE LONGER YOU ARE AT THE TABLE WITHOUT A GOOD SYSTEM THE SURER YOU COME TO LOSING. The one thing Casinos want is for you to stay at a table for a long time. Those who do, lose.
That's why there are no clocks and that's why they serve you coffee and drinks. I will bet the Casino would even love to put portable potties at the table if they could. A Casino rates you on time spent and average size of your bets, not losses. There must be a reason to their madness.
For those of you who think the Dealer can pick a #, or a section and aim for it; if you are still not convinced that it's impossible then all we can recommend is that you watch their eyes to see if they are watching the wheel when the ball is placed into motion. If you still think a dealer is trying to time the wheel either get off that table or ask them to hit your #s next time. They will get the message. Remember if a dealer could time the ball right (which is impossible, impossible, and impossible) he'd have a partner on the table and he or she would be retired by now in Switzerland or the Cayman Islands. IN FACT WITH THE WHEEL STOPPED THE DEALER COULDN'T DROP THE BALL INTO A SPECIFIC #. YOU TRY IT, IMPOSSIBLE.
Some people would have you think that some Croupiers (Dealers) have a rhythm and a certain push rate and that somehow allows you to predict where he/she will and can place a ball in a specific section. They call it a Dealer's signature. Hogwash -- total Hogwash. There is NO way. First of all it would have to be exact all the time. Secondly, they would have to watch very, very, very carefully and start the ball in the very same EXACT spot on the moving wheel each time. When they first push the wheel can you read the #'s? No. The Wheel would have to be spinning at the EXACT speed each time they did it. "YEAH NEXT".
If you think a Dealer can aim for a section of the wheel, so what if they could (which they can't) analyze any section you want. What's there - Reds and Blacks, Odd and Even #s, Hi #s, Low #s. 1 is on the opposite side of the wheel from #2 and so on, all around the wheel. So what good would it do hitting a section there are too many combinations to be a sure winner.
Do they change Dealers on you just to throw you off?? In most large Casinos they change Dealers every half-hour. Believe me if you lose after a dealer change, we guarantee that you will feel they were out to get you, but just because you are paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you. It's all relative to how much you are winning and the class of the Casino you are playing in.

Richard.
