Because it lacks a female point of view to counter balance the matcho attitudes of some posters. The average view of a female is that gambling is more harmful than beneficial for individuals, and for society, and should not be encouraged. I agree with that. Do you ?

The average view of a female is that gambling is basically an activity based on luck. She feels the belief in luck is a result of poor reasoning or wishful thinking.

Men's reasoning is A happens (luck-attracting event or action) and then B happens; therefore, A caused B. Or "I haven't rolled a seven all week, so I'll definitely roll one tonight".  :good:

The matcho in all its glory : "Fu** yo* if you don't think like me"

Arteintivo,

What an interesting point of view. And I think I would agree with you on a couple of things. As a female I do not feel comfortable writing in the forum. I don't feel I have enough knowledge to contribute and honestly I'm afraid to look stupid. I've felt urged many times to comment on macho attitudes or childish accusations. I am not impressed at all by all off this. It puts me off, and I'm disappointed, because I thought this was supposed to be the "friendly forum" (did I make that up? I don't see it anywhere now). I've refained from giving any comments because I don't think it will help. I think, not giving the ego's the attention they want and need to survive, they will calm down. So... I prefer to read.

I'm not sure about if gambling should or shouldn't be encouraged. In my eyes it's just a form of addiction that men are more sensitive to. But women have their addictions to and they can be just as harmfull (f.e. shopping/eating). And from all of those, lessons can be learned.

I don't think gambling is an activity based on luck. I'm not saying it's not, but I'd like to think so. That's why I am here. And there seem to be very knowledgeable people here that make me think that there is much more to it. But I also see there aren't many women here, so you are probably right.

Can't help to think about the fact though, that often is said, that wise descisions (also in roulette) come with experience... that after the learning curve you learn to feel what the right thing is to do... which basicly means you learn to trust your gut feeling or intuïtion... ?

Best regards,
Vix

vix,

Glad to hear from you. In fact, I did not expect a reply as the other matchoboy from the other similar thread deleted my comment for no legitimate reason. So I decided to open MY own thread and post it here instead as after all, me too I have my ego  :)

I realised one thing regarding gambling forums. It's very difficult to trust anyone as most play a particular game. A game of... have you seen how great I am, I have developped this idea but it is so convulated, you'll need my help for the rest of your life. OK, I exagerate a little bit but it looks like it. And you have the other expert, who pretends knowing everything there is to know about the game and he even go sa far as to laugh at all members who visit this place. The expert put himself on a pedestal.

There is basically no possible communication among this group of egos. But there are some rare exceptions but I wont give names. It's forbiden.  :diablo:

Anyway, I did not think there was even a woman reading our book of Lamentations  :good:

PS feel free to post anything as your voice/opinion is greatly needed down here. See this thread as a window of opportunity for speaking loudly on the state of affairs that prevails right now.

@ Vix
Greatly looking forward to more of your posts, Vix.

Thoughtful. Incisive. Perceptive. And entirely relevant.

So please be encouraged -- and keep that light hidden no longer!

Frankly, the forum desperately needs input from both Yin and Yang perspectives to help redress the current imbalance.

@ Arteintivo
I concur with your supportive comments. Nicely put, I thought.

Marven

I second esoito's post.

All the best,

"As a female I do not feel comfortable writing in the forum. I don't feel I have enough knowledge to contribute and honestly I'm afraid to look stupid." >>> I've commented on this many times at GG. Its a shame you are a bit scared. You should not have to be. With the new thread moderator thingie (which I'll never use), you can delete whoever pisses you off. You can also PM posters that you feel would be cool to communicate with. PLEASE ask questions. I give a FREE pass to someone who is not familiar with the game. I run into them all the time at the TABLE! I have the funniest story to tell but I have to leave. Ask questions, I think its cool to have some females aboard.  Ken

I've always given regards to men and women alike in my post.  I always put "Hey you Guys & Gals." or "Ladies & Gentlemen".  I never knew if there were women on here or not but I only presumed there was.

And yes vix I read more of these post instead of commenting for the same reasons.  I's not dat smart.  ;D So I read more.  I think it's cool to have women commenting on here.  My wife is more of a gambler than I am.  But we're not addicted to it and we haven't mortgaged the farm on it yet.  Appreciate the post.  I do like this forum better than others I've been on.

I'm having trouble with my little smiley's.  :scratch_ones_head: They don't seem to work right for me.

Thanks guys (& gals) reb.

reb99

What do you know.  I make a comment about my smiley's not working right and they make a liar out of me.  :blush2:

Thank you Arteinvivo, Esoito, Marven and Mr J for your encouragement and support. I almost regretted writing that message right after posting it, but this is actually pretty cool  :clapping:

@Arteinvivo, I tried to figure out what you meant by "book of lamentations". I googled it and didn't realy find out more than it being a part of the bible, but not a very good one? Anyway, I think I know what you mean though.

@Esoito, I see what you mean when u talk about Yin and Yang, it is funny to see how this relates to every aspect in life. I think I will look more into your past posts.

@Ken, although I don't like progressions  ;)  recently I have been looking after your posts. I enjoy reading them cause, of what I've seen, you always seem positive, curious and calm... as in, you don't easily get offended, big PLUS!! But, ofcourse, I could be wrong, I should be reading even more... but I'm sooo tired.

Many thanx again,
Vix

Reb, that was funny. I was about to say the same thing about the smilies and then they turned out fine.

Maybe you should invite your wife to write on the forum also  :good:

I'm glad to hear there are more "readers" like me out there. There might be many more who are reluctant to post.

Hi Vix.
Im sure there are a few more out there scared to post but hopefully you have shown them the way.
I think the forum has been a little fraught of late, but hopefully now it appears to be calming down a little ,some others may follow your lead.
Thank you

Hi Vix.

No you didn't Make that Up.

That was something We were very proud of.

And I am trying My hardest along with the Help of the others guys that Hate the way things have gone lately and We are trying to rectify it back to the Friendly Family Forum Aspect that We once had as quick as we can.

I do apologize to not only You but all of our Lady Members and to those ladies that read the Forum as well for the way the Forum has degenerated into where arguments and name calling and swearing are the Norm now instead of being a one off thing that was stamped out straight away before.

You have My word Vix to You and the other ladies that from what I have heard if things don't turn around there will be some of the More long Term and Fair Minded Members Stampeding towards the Exit doors.

Please on behalf of the Forum accept our apologies for the absolutely Despicable and Disrespectful way that some have conducted their selves over recent times.

I must say that I agree with this Quote from Gizmotron.

QuoteI prefer banning anyone that talks as if children aren't near by.

Lets hope that The dissapointment You Vix and others have felt can be turned around in the near Future.

Your Friend.

Lanky.
