Okay, so I'm still interested in this competition idea that Jakk started up about a month ago... but since it really hasn't gone anywhere, I'd like to propose the following:

I am willing to host a public competition to all those interested.  I will post a prize of 250$ (US) to the first place winner.
The entry fee will be zip, zero, nadda, nothing.
The competition will be hosted in this forum, in this section (Battle Arena).  I will be in charge of it (so it's my way or the high way... you gotta problem with that, then you post the prize money!)
I will be the one posting numbers (of course I would also submit these numbers to an arbitrator that we all would agree upon).  Rules would of course be set in place.

Rules (preliminary...more to come/be changed most likely)
Once the official competition begins, numbers would be posted at intervals of every 24 hours.  That being said, numbers could be posted sooner should everyone submit their numbers in earlier.  If you do not get your numbers in before the next post, I would count your bet as 0 (meaning you don't win, and you don't lose anything).  You would still be eligable to keep betting during the next round.  Anyone missing 6 consecutive betting rounds (or a total of 25% of the betting rounds) would be considered inactive and forfeit their chance at winning (this would be to prevent someone from amassing a huge lead and then coasting till the end).

Of course there will be an official time that I will post the numbers each day (something like 12 noon est...).  And although I will try to always post the numbers each day and on time, I may not be able to do so.  If this happens, we either wait for me to post them when I can, or I will have someone post them for me.

Spin total would be something like 500 or 750 or 1000.  I would rattle off 6 or 12 spins each day, meaning it would take at most 83 days.  Of course, I'm hoping that people post often, so we could get 4 or 5 sets of numbers in a day once and a while.

Tourney (easier than writing competition each time...lol) would be run in similar fashion as the "Christmas Competition" that was held over at RF.  As stated, I would provide the numbers, and would also keep track of everyones status in the tourney (+/-) and post the results regularly.

Starting "Bankroll" would be 250$, and if you were to loss it all, then you are out of the tourney (just like real life, you can't bet what you don't have).

You can bet however you want, keeping in mind that I post 6/12 numbers at a time (meaning you can't change your bet every number... sorry, that would take to long).  There would also be a min and max bet (1$ being min. and say 25$ or 50$ being max... this can be discussed).  You can use stop losses, progressions, whatever.

Here's the catch (yes, there's a catch).  The winner will receive access to an online account (such as DublinBet) and be required to play a certain amount each week.  For a period of say, 3 months any money they win with that account they can keep, -25% for me (consider it my investiment).  Should the acount be lower than the initial investment (250$) at the end of the 3 month holding period, the same will occur - They can keep what's left, minus my 25%.  If the winner does not bet enough times each week(according the the rules) or doesn't bet at all (in hopes just to keep the 250$) then they forfeit the winnings back to me, in which I will host another one of these tourneys.  Also, should they get to 1000$ profit in less time then 3 months, I will allow them to exit from the contract, thus taking 750$ profit and returning to me my original 250$, which will be used to host another tourney.

Of course, this is all pending approval on a couple things:
1 - It's Victors site, so if he's not cool with this, then that's that.  No questions asked.
2 - I have to see if it's possible to set up another account on DublinBet and see if I can lock up the account info and such).  If not, I may need to set up some sort of screening process to prevent just anybody from winning the tourney and taking the money and running.  (I don't want just anybody to have access to my banking info)
3 - Interest.  This is only gonna work if you all participate.  Seeing how it's free to enter and there's 250$ (and possibly lots more) at stake, I'm hoping we get lots of people.
4 - For all you US players - I realize you can't participate at online casino's so what I was thinking was we could team up using MSN or something and I (or someone else) could bet for you.  Or you could just explain your method of betting and I would play it for you online.  You would still get 75% of the winnings.  If this were the case, The amount of time playing would need to be adjusted since I can't always be online playing.

Lemme know what you think.  If it generates enough interest, then I will start hashing out the rules ASAP(with your help of course).  The sooner we start the better.  Why am I doing this you might ask?  A couple reasons:
1 - I have a chance to make some money with  the help of our excellent forum members (obviously)  Plus it allows the winner to make some serious cash without ever risking there own.
2 - I love competitions!
3 - I'm bored...

Thanks, and good luck!

I'm ok with it, go ahead!

What are you waiting for people, there is money to be made with matty!

This is mutual benefit, you get a $250 bankroll for free and 75% percent of profit to keep. Great deal in my opinion.

Hey Mystidark,

The bankroll can be changed but I wanted to keep this as real as possible.  I wouldn't make much sense for us to start with a 5000 BR and bet 100$ a number, then have the winner play with a measly 250$ on DB.  This way, if the winner can make 1200 bucks in the competition, he/she should be able to do the same on DB.

Comments/Suggestions are more then welcome!

Hey Matty no that makes sense...plus I really want to test the strategy and this seems to be the perfect way to do it! The way I see it, if it wins with $250 BR then one can just extrapolate results to a higher BR amount anyway.

Let the games begin...plus it might be nice if the winner could share his method so we could all learn/improve on it!

Well count me in, purely for the fun of course.  8-)

Americans cannot participate; so, what would the prize be if we wanted to play?

Hey Kimo,

From what I know about online gambling and the US... this are my 2 suggestions:

1 - I set up the account under my name.  The winner will be supplied with the login info and will be able to play using the account.  Since I'm not american, I am able to use the site and deposit/withdrawl money.  When time comes to close the account, I will do so and forward the winner their share of the take via PayPal, Email Transfer (if possible), or money order (mail).  Does this seem doable?  If your in the States, I'm assuming you can still log onto DublinBet, you just can't open an account with them?
2 - If the above option doesn't works, we could always work out something like me playing your system for you (as I mentioned in the first thread).

I would think option 1 would do though.  Since you're not actual the owner of the account, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to log into it?  I hope some of your American players can clarify this! (TwoCatSam??)

Cheers Guys.  I'm in the midst of doing up some proper rules as we speak.  I'll post them shortly.  And, of course, the rules are still subject to change until the tourney starts.

Okay, so we have six people so far (and that's counting Kimo, who's in the States).

I'm going to find out a couple of things with DB this weekend or next:
1 - Can I lock up the banking info somehow?
2 - Can I log on from an American IP address (so that if the winner was in the States, they could still play using the account)?  I plan on telling them that I'll be on a trip in the states and am wondering if I can use my laptop to still play while traveling (think it will work?)

Anyways, will keep you posted.  If nobody else signs up, then those that are in have a good chance at winning!

Matt

While I'm in no position to play, I might enlighten you on a couple of things.  I can log onto DB, but only in fun mode.  They know my IP and will not let me set up a real money account.

Any US resident wanting to circumvent this can sign up with FindNot.com and use their OpenVPN to bounce off a server in the UK, Canada or Australia.  You can then register as a real-money player, but you must use phony info and you can not fund the account.

Folks, I've got a UK address, a UK phone number, a Netherlands phone number and I still can't get on.  I might fly to Ireland and fund the account directly, but probably not.

I'm not sure why we're building Indian casinos in Oklahoma faster than Starbucks but we are, and I can't play dollar-a-hand roulette on line.

Lots of luck guys.
