Gambler's Glenn has been around a long time.
You will also find some of the best information out there regarding advantage play in the archives.
Some of the most intelligent gamblers around will occasionally post on GG.
Some of them are also professionals.   Unfortunately, the place is also infested with some very annoying posters as well, so you have to take the good with the bad.

Don't post a system there unless you're ready to deal with the truth.

Herb.

But i am afraid you won't appreciate THE truth : "No mechanical systems can win" this is why there is another breed of system poping out... systems which are subjectives and request the use of your mind. Not an easy proposition my dear. I tell you.

LeBear

Arte,
Well said mate, I think you are correct in your above statement.  I agree.

best regards,

LeBear

Herb

Show me a "subjective system" and I'll remove the subjective part for you.  I'll simply tell you whether the system wins or loses. :)

Herb, the beauty of such subjective systems is that you can't tear them apart and say... see ? this part does not work, i told you.

What's truly insteresting about these new breed of systems is that you can promulgate new mathematical laws and abrogate old ones. All this based on your own subjective perception taking place within your mind and modified by your individual bias (advantage players, look out! a subjective word : "individual bias"). This is the power of the mind and no one can dispute it.

Do you see why you can't remove the subjective part ?  [smiley=lolk.gif]

Read my sig, you'll get a cue.

Matilda

"Herb, the beauty of such subjective systems is that you can't tear them apart and say... see ? this part does not work, I told you." --- Yep, very true, I agree.  Ken

Herb

Actually, yes you can.  Quite easily I might add.

It's very easy to prove these subjective systems don't work.  However, it's quite hard to convince the "subjective" system users that they don't work.

Hi comrade, would you mind telling me what you would try to measure in order to claim system ABC is not better than playing at random ?

Do you only gamble on the standard deviation?

Herb

Simple, the results for one :)

And then...

Herb

And then, yes, you can say it doesn't work if the subjective system doesn't perform better than random.

Seriously, you can just look at 99.99% of systems and immediately know whether they will work.

If you want more detail, then we can discuss it in the general chat, (not MSN)
Discussing it openly here is not a good idea.
