Hi Mates,
    I just got off the phone a short while ago with Nancy and Lionel had just come out of the recovery room.  She had not spoken with the Drs. yet but was going to do so in the morning.  She said that Lionel was still pretty groggy from the anesthesia and at that point I next have Lionel on the phone and he says he really feels like crap.  So in true Aussie style I told him to stuff it.  He had a good laugh and said he would talk with me later tonight.  Tough buggers those Aussies.

   From what I understand about the surgery the next 48hrs. are very important in the recovery process.  So we must keep both Lionel and Nancy in our prayers that his recovery will be speedy.  As I learn more of how things are going I will post them here on the forumn.

Hi Mates,
    I just got off of the phone with Nancy and Lionel.  The surgery has gone very well and recovery is progressing nicely at this time.  They have him up and walking around already but he is in a lot of pain from where they whacked the vein out of his leg and thigh.  He is hoping to be home in maybe 2 or 3 days so that means they were able to perform the required surgery without having to be overly aggressive.
    I passed on everyones thoughts and prayers for him and Nancy, and he wanted me to tell everyone thank you, and he was very grateful for that.  He is still pretty weak so we just had a short chat.  I will talk with him again tommorow and post an update after I do.  From what I understand it is going to be many weeks before the healing will be complete so there are still some rough days ahead.  But considering all he has been through in the past 24 hrs. he is a real digger "soldier" and I know he will be just fine.  We were funning a little bit and I got him laughing, but it was pulling his stitches and staples so we stopped that pretty quick.  So his spirits are up and very good.

Hi Mates,
   I spoke with Lionel and Nancy last night and things are proceeding nicely.  The lung infection that has been dogging him has finally cleared up.  This is great because he may get to go home today.  His sugar is stabalizing too which is also wonderful news. Both Lionel and Nancy are in good spirits.  Lionel is still quite weak from the procedure but that is too be expected.  I will let everyone know of any further developments.  Keep the prayers and best wishes coming for a speedy recovery.
