The word of the day is "overcoming".............
November 16, 2009, 07:12:51 PM
A TwoCat blathering..........

A fish swims upstream.  A bird flies against the wind.  An airplane flies against the wind and against gravity. Do any of the three eliminate their opposing force?  No.  Yet they all accomplish their goals.

How?

Easy!  They overcome their opposing force or forces.  Does the river still flow, the wind still blow; does gravity keep me on the planet?  Yes!  So none are suspended as water shut off at the kitchen sink or the ceiling fan turned off.

The 2.7% edge is the opposing force.  Can we eliminate it?  No.  The bird and fish don't even consider stopping the wind or the current and the Wright Brothers knew they had to overcome gravity, not eliminate it.  So what do we do to move against the dreaded edge?

First, we quit trying to eliminate it as that is totally impossible.  Second, we learn how to move against it as the fish against the current.

More if there is any interest; deleted if not.

When you understand the force against you then you can overcome it. The force in roulette is 37 or 38 slots not probability. The mechanism produces random outcomes without regard to the process that does it. Physics is not the only way to overcome the randomness mechanism. It's the only way to overcome the mechanism. It's not the only way to overcome randomness. Dogmatism is not the only way to put down the quest to overcome randomness, despite the dogmatic opinion. Nice going TwoCatSam, you have managed to marginalize the VB Nazis with one word.

If you were to touch the plane crashes you would be surprised what car crashes get you. In Roulette you never jump into the jaws of a bear unless you are trapped by the logic of believing in progressions.

"unless you are trapped by the logic of believing in progressions" >>> Nope, wrong answer. I *AGAIN* state, do not group every progression into every style of play. I'm right, you are wrong.  Ken
Find a truly original roulette idea. It is the only way you will ever distinguish yourself. It is the only way you will ever matter. Impress the roulette community with your hard work & devotion, this game they call unbeatable.

So the question becomes:  Is there ever a time when the player has the opportunity to overcome the house edge?

The point is not that fish get eaten, birds get shot out of the air or planes crash.  Your point is well taken; not every recipe makes a cake.  My point is that adverse conditions can be overcome in nature.  Can we do it in roulette?

In all honesty, if there is never a time when we have a temporary advantage over the house, then every win is pure luck and we're all doomed to failure.  If there is a time, a window of opportunity when we hold the upper hand, then we can win.  I believe such a time exists.  Learning when to get on the tram and when to get off is the key.

"if there is never a time when we have a temporary advantage over the house, then every win is pure luck and we're all doomed to failure" >>> Thats the point I have made 200 times. If ANOTHER poster does not agree with YOUR (or my) style of play......we will lose, we have no chance BUT (this is the best part) THEY have the secret key and will be victorious. lol  Ken

Gents

Just posing some questions on this thread.

I look at it like this.  The edge is the wind.  On average it blows 2.7 miles per hour from the North.  Some days it blows harder, some softer and some days it blows from the South.  Logic will tell you that if there is ever a time when the edge is in your favor, there must be an equal and opposing time when the edge is against you but at a greater strength than normal.

Our goal is to determine when the wind is at our back (positive tram) and when it is against us even stronger than normal (negative tram) and bet accordingly.  Can this be done to the point of overcoming the house edge?

I honestly believe it can.

End of TwoCat blather.............

I think the edge is over rated. When I design and develop a well constructed system, it creates an
advantage, such that any theoretical edge a casino is supposed to have becomes irrelevant.

OK Mr chips
I am sorry that I will have to say this BUT

""theoretical edge that any Casino has???????"""

as I just understood u don t know anything about Casinos edge..so nothing about roulette also

Casinos EDGE is not theoritical.....it is PRACTICAL!!!!

Check out my results for 4Selecta and Signum (which will be completed in January 2010)

When you produce such results, then you will know something about roulette.

Okay... Serious question. Why the hell are we talking about trams and designing systems in the Physics thread? I suppose this means I have an open invitation to spam all system related threads with "VB is the only way!"
