How Much Can you Win With Roulette?

Fortunes have been won and lost at roulette. But is there any limit to how much you can win? Absolutely, but there are many variables that I’ll discuss in this article.

Normal Table Limits

The two main types of bets in roulette are inside and outside bets. Inside bets include individual numbers, splits, and so on. Outside bets include dozens, colors, odds and evens, etc.

The payouts for inside bets are much higher, because the odds of winning a much lower. So the maximum amount you can bet on insides is much lower.

Normally casinos have a variety of different roulette tables, with different betting limits. A typical betting limit is a maximum bet of $100 for inside bets, and $1000 for outside bets. However, it varies considerably depending on what the casino management is comfortable with.

For example, there are betting tables in Europe with a maximum of $500 for inside bets, a $50,000 for outside bets – on the same table. It’s important to note that betting limits don’t increase your chances of winning. The casino knows that you can take betting progression strategies between different tables, with different betting limits. So you might start beating with your strategy using $1 units. And after many losses, you may need to migrate to tables with higher betting limits. This won’t help you win. It only increases the amount you risk. And the chances are if your strategy doesn’t increase the accuracy of predictions (to be better than random), you’ll eventually lose big.

Custom Table Limits

If you’re a high-roller, you can request custom table limits. These are entirely at the discretion of the casino manager. It’s not uncommon for high-rollers to request maximum bets of up to $1 million. If you’re a multi-billionaire, this might still be play money for you. But either way you look at it, it’s still a lot of money, and your bets will still make the casino nervous.

Large wins from highrollers, and tables with custom limits, aren’t likely to raise suspicion of casino staff. I’m referring to the problem of avoiding detection. If you are familiar with my articles, you’d understand that is not difficult to beat roulette. The real difficulty is avoiding detection. You can theoretically win millions of dollars in a day. The problem is the casino just won’t tolerate it.

You can theoretically win millions every day. But the casino just wont tolerate it.

However, one of my favorite techniques to avoid detection is to use high-rollers as a cover. There have been many cases where high-rollers approach me, wanting to be part of my teams. Typically they explain that they are notorious and well-known in their local casino. This means they can more easily get away with a large wins.

For example, in one case the player was famous for losing several hundred thousand dollars in one night. He’s a very wealthy person, but it still stung him to lose so much money. The result is he joined one of our teams, and comfortably made large bets without drawing negative attention. He made back his losses, and more for the whole team. And as far as the casino was concerned, it was just luck.

The only downside of this approach is you can’t do it night after night, or it becomes too obvious. This is just one example of how we have maximized winnings.

Online Casino Table Limits

Generally the betting limits at online casinos are significantly lower. This is a general rule, and there are of course exceptions. Online roulette can be played at Fruity King and there are numerous casinos to choose from, but give preference to live dealer roulette, if you intend to play professionally.

How You Won Determines The Casino’s Reaction

If you win a small amount, the casino will pay your winnings, and you’ll be on your way. But if you win a larger amount, the casino has various obligations to report the win. For starters, wins over a specific threshold require you to provide photo identification. This is mostly to avoid tax evasion and money-laundering. However, the reality is such crimes occur often in the top levels of management. And at that level of management, there is often collusion, with aspects like video cameras conveniently having technical issues at certain times. It has happened before, even in casinos which supposedly have a good reputation. It only takes one corrupt person in power.

So let’s say for example you have a big win, and take your chips to the cashier. If your winnings are only just above the threshold, you won’t have any problems getting your money.

But if your winnings are substantial, like tens of thousands of dollars, things become more complicated. You may be asked to sit and wait for a while, and offered free drinks. The casino may say they are organizing your payment. After all, larger payments are usually provided in check form. Large cash payments are almost never provided by casinos, as a legal requirement.

So while you are waiting, the casino surveillance staff may be reviewing recorded video of your wins. This is to determine how you won. Specifically they look for tell-tale signs that indicate you are a professional roulette player. Unless they find you may have been cheating, you will still be paid, even if they suspect you are a professional player. Exactly what they look for is a matter for another article.

Even if they don’t suspect you of being a professional player, they will still record your identification, and add you to a database. Such a database is usually shared between other casinos. So if you win big in one casino, then win big in another casino, it raises red flags. And it may prompt close to review of your style of play, and how you may be winning.

Maximum Wins Possible

There is no set maximum. The table limit can be $1 million maximum bet, if you are a high-roller casino player as discussed above. But if you are un-usually lucky, and appear to be winning too much, the casino could just close the table on you. This effectively ends your winning streak, and has been done to many of our players before. That’s usually a good sign that the team hasn’t done what they needed to avoid detection.

Another possibility is they let you continue to play, with the hope you eventually lose. Although this strategy is only used if you are winning with outside bets. This is because it’s nearly impossible to consistently beat roulette with outside bets. Almost every advantage play technique, used by professional casino players, involves inside bets.

As a general rule, the average casino will allow you to win around $10,000, before they start to more carefully review your behavior. This is to determine how you are probably winning, and ultimately if you are a serious threat.

Although a particular team may win millions in their lifetime, the average wins per session are usually no more than $10,000. So a team may win about $10,000 before moving to a different casino, or returning to the same casino a week or so later.

Again the conditions vary, and there are many variables, so I can only give a general outline of what is achieved with a winning strategy.

The Martingale System and Its Variations

If you’ve been trying to beat the roulette, you’ve probably heard of the famous Martingale system. Designed by John Henry Martingale, it emerged in the 18th century as the go-to strategy for beating the house edge and it’s used by a wide range of players to this very day. Not only is it applicable to both the online as well as offline version of the game, you can, in fact, apply its core principles to any gambling type game of your choosing.

What’s even better is that there are more than a few variations of it you can incorporate into your overall strategy. But before we delve into these, an quick introduction for those who are familiarizing themselves with the concept for the first time.

The system in a nutshell

In essence, the Martingale system is rather simple to grasp. The main idea is to start with the smallest bet possible and up the stakes when you lose. So let’s say you started with one dollar. If you lose, you bet 2 dollars the next time around. If it happens again, you go to 4. Then 8. And so on and so forth. As you can tell, winning any one of these consecutive bets reverses the damage done by a previously encountered losing bet. And it’s unlikely a player will lose 10 times in a row, meaning they can continue what seems like forever, steadily earning more as they go.

The limitations of this strategy

Of course, casino operators are well aware of this simple but effective strategy. As such, they’ve taken appropriate measures to keep it under control, so it’s still effective, but by no means impeccable. The main limiting factor comes in the form of regulating the minimum and maximum bet sizes. So for the purpose of illustration, let’s say the minimum bet is 1 and the maximum bet is 20.

This would go down as follows:

1… 2… 4… 8… 16…

As you can see, not many repetitions are possible as there isn’t a lot of breathing room in the example above. But the good news is, in a typical UK online casino, the maximum bet is set way higher, allowing up to 10 or 11 consecutive losses before going bust and sometimes even more, depending on how low the minimum bet is set. There is a very small chance of encountering this many losses in a row, and you could go days betting on either red or black without experiencing it a single time, thus steadily increasing your profits.

The variations

The variations is where it gets interesting, as the meat-and-bones version of the system can be limiting at times.

1. Classic Martingale

This is pretty much the version we’ve already covered. The classic version of the system focuses around betting on either one of the two colors, black or red. So if it comes a up, it’s a win, otherwise it’s a loss, in a tried and true boolean fashion. In case of roulette, this amounts to 18 opportunities to win and 19 to lose (there are 18 black numbers, 18 red ones, and a zero that always results in a loss). In case you’re playing the American version of roulette, there are two zeroes, so the chances of winning are ever so slightly smaller than 50%.

Ones and zeroes, reds and blacks. In roulette, you get to pick which color represents a win.

2. Great Martingale

This version of the system takes the core concept to explosive heights. Its main advantage is overcoming one of the original version’s drawbacks: winning small sprinkles of money in exchange for putting the entire bankroll at risk of going bust. So instead of merely doubling up on the bet size when losing, the player would add more chips to the bet. This small difference yields substantial results and keeps the player motivated, as winning translates to greater bankroll increases.

3. Anti-Martingale (also known as Reverse Martingale)

Say, what? Exactly. As the name itself suggests, this variation of the system takes the original concept and turns it on its head. So instead of upping the stakes after a loss, the player would double-up upon winning. In essence, this does away with the dangers of risking your entire bankroll, which is one of the main criticisms of the system in its classic form. The reason is simple: encounter as many consecutive losses as possible, your bet size still remains the same. But in case you win, you can be brave and up the stakes (but only as long as you keep winning). The trick with this, of course, is knowing when to stop and bank your profits.

In gambling (and in life), there are no guarantees, but a system such as this can help keep the risks structured and under control. The fact is that the Martingale system is used by beginners and experts alike. This means it deserves to find a place in your strategy as you continue to develop your own style of playing that’s based on logic, observation, and reason rather than emotion.

Where To Get Advice To Play Roulette Professionally

There is no shortage of self-professed experts on the Internet. The problem is most people think they know more than they do. And often people get information from other people who know as little as them. So it’s difficult to find accurate information about many topics. Information about winning roulette is no exception.

This article explains we are to get accurate advice about winning roulette. It’s particularly important because the wrong advice will likely lose you money. It should be obvious, but still I’m often contacted by someone who lost money with a system posted on my forum. I’m not talking about any system I personally publish. I’m referring to systems published by my members. Often I will get the blame despite bold warnings across my websites, warning people not to believe everything they read.

Beware of Free System Websites

Some websites offer free roulette systems, which apparently work only at specific casinos promoted by the website. Many of these are scams. The idea of the scam is to encourage you to join casinos that the scammer is an affiliate of.

I’ve personally written about and exposed many such scams. Unfortunately, this has made me a target of scammers who seek to discredit me. But I’d rather that, than let them get away with scamming people.

Gambling Forums

Generally any forum and its members are a reflection of the administrator. Some forums are relatively unmoderated, which leads to them becoming a cesspool of people who enjoy arguments and trolling each other. Don’t expect to learn anything constructive from such forums.

Nevertheless, there are a few worthwhile forums with positive discussions. Of course I mention my own forum at, although I moderate a few others including

A word of advice though. Even on my forums, there is a lot of ignorance. In fact most members could be considered complete amateurs. And this includes members who have been around for years. So I suggest get to know who’s who, so you know the genuinely experienced members you should listen to.

You’ll probably find that every gambling forum has two main types of members. Firstly, you have the typical system player which mostly repeats the same mistakes. Secondly, you have the more experienced advantage players. Advantage players focus on legitimately effective and proven methods to beat roulette.

In my experience, the typical system players consider the advantage players to be arrogant. This is because advantage players constantly tell system players why their systems don’t work. And nobody likes to be told why they are wrong.

Casino Review Websites

There are many websites reviewing online casinos, like at Casinopilotti. If you are looking for details of casino bonuses, such websites are a convenient resource. Just make sure the information is updated regularly. This is because bonuses and special casino offers tend to change over time. You can read more about casino bonuses on other websites.

Often the same websites include advice about roulette systems and strategies. But such information is usually repeated from other resources, which include inaccurate advice. Keep in mind that the aim of the casino promoter is to have you join specific casinos. They might not intend to mislead you, but they aren’t exactly experts in their field when it comes to winning roulette. If anything, casino review websites might prefer you to lose, because they might get commissions on your losses.

I’m not suggesting casino review sites are dishonest, although some are. How do you know the dishonest ones? Well, if they promote a particular roulette system, and claim it only works at a specific casino, then it’s probably a scam.

Unfortunately we live in a world where we can’t fully trust anyone who has money to gain from giving advice. You might argue that by me promoting professional roulette systems, that I have something to gain by selling systems. And you would be correct. So even in the case of myself, don’t take my word alone. Verify everything I and anyone else says, don’t believe everything you are told.

In any case, wherever you get your advice, thoroughly test your roulette systems before betting real money. But ensure you test on realistic roulette simulators, because many simulators are statistically rigged in the player’s favor. That’s another story, because some dishonest casinos provide free roulette games that allow winning, until you start betting real money.

Proven Ways to Win at Roulette

Roulette is one of the oldest casino games that hasn’t ceased to impress players for years. Of all games of chance, this one is known to be the best at building suspense. Simply watching the ball fall into a numbered slot is exciting enough to keep you entertained for hours.

Some players avoid roulette since they claim it’s a game in which luck plays a major role and no strategy can help you change the outcome. But, is it really so? No, there are indeed legitimate ways to win roulette, and they’re called advantage play techniques. But this article looks more at basic strategies, for new players.

Roulette players around the world have long been discussing different theories regarding the ways you can win at roulette. We’ve gathered some interesting ideas in this text, so make sure to read it in order to find out how to improve your chances and become better at this legendary game.

Different Roulette Strategies

All casino games come with a kind of strategy intended to help you achieve better results. Classic roulette strategies have been around for years, but today we decided to find some more unusual ones and give you some homework for your next roulette round. Let’s take a look!

Split Bet Strategy

The Split Bet or represents a simple strategy where you pick two numbers and place a chip on the intersecting line between them. It is also known as an “inside bet” because the intersecting line happens to be within the grid of the roulette felt.

The main advantage of the splitting bet is that it allows you to increase your chances and pays 17 to 1. You keep the same house edge but get the second-best payout option.

Roulette Sector Strategy

The roulette sector strategy is often used by fans of European Roulette since the house edge is much lower (2,70%) than the one in American Roulette (5,26%). The roulette wheel is separated into several sectors:

  • Jeu Zero — 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15
  • Voisins du Zéro — 22, 18, 7, 29, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25
  • Orphelins — 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9
  • Tiers du Cylindre —  13, 27, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33.

Every sector includes different bet types, each with a high payout, and they are all marked Call Bets. Place a straight bet thanks to Orphelins, or a 17-number bet allowed by the Voisins du Zero. Should you opt for Tiers du Cylindre, you can place a set of six split bets.

Street Strategy

The Street strategy includes several roulette bets and systems. We’ll start with the Street bet that is, once again, considered an “inside bet”you can place on three numbers with a payout rate of 11:1.

Then we’ve got the Double Street Quad System that is highly favored among beginners or players with a limited budget since it allows you to choose up to 17 numbers with only six chips. It consists of one straight bet, one corner bet, and two double street bets. This gives you a 50/50 chance of winning.

Tips on Roulette Betting

First and foremost, before you start playing the game, you should find out all you can about it. One of the ways to do so is to visit a site designed especially for roulette lovers like, where you’ll find all the necessary information to get started on the right foot.

Now that you have a few strategies handy, you can start acquiring some tips that can help you become a roulette pro.

1.   Manage Your Bankroll

The unwritten rule that can be applied to all games of chance is to set a bankroll and stick to it. Let it be an amount of money you won’t regret losing. Once you lose all of it, simply leave and don’t try to cover your losses with the money from your child’s education fund.

Here’s how to get the best of your bankroll when playing roulette:

  • Leave the table while you’re on a hot streak — the best way to do so is to set a fixed profit goal and the moment you reach it, collect your winnings, and go home.
  • Minimize or completely avoid alcohol consumption — Alcohol can mess with your focus and power of deduction, and you don’t want that to happen when playing roulette.
  • Bring a friend — When you are alone at a roulette table, it’s more likely you’ll make some not-so-smart moves. If you bring a friend, they can bring you back to reality and help you make reasonable choices.

2.   Play the Game in Demo Mode

Some online casinos offer the so-called demo mode that allows you to play the game for free. This is quite convenient as it can help you learn how the game works and practice before investing real money. The best part is that you don’t have to spend a dime on it — the only thing you need to do is create an account, find the desired roulette type, and start playing.

3.   Choose European Roulette

The only reason we advise players to choose European over American roulette is that the house edge on the latter is twice as high. In other words, you’ll run out of cash twice as fast if you go for the American version. We’re not saying you’ll never win playing American roulette, but you’ll definitely have better odds if you choose the European version.

What Has Made Roulette Popular for Such a Long Time?

Believe it or not, roulette is one of the oldest casino games that you could play. While the game itself has been around for much longer, the style of play we would recognise as roulette was first introduced in Paris in 1796. Why has this particular game remained in our hearts for so long? Let’s take a closer look.

A Brief History

The game we first know might have been introduced in 1796, but it was in the town of Bad Homburg in 1843 that we saw the single 0 style roulette wheel with a green pocket. Meanwhile, in the American casinos, the same style was appearing with the addition of an extra 00.

In the 1860s, the German government cracked down on gambling. The Blanc brothers, the inventors of the current popular wheel, moved to Monte Carlo and helped to establish this as a premier gambling destination. This, in turn, helped to add to the popularity of roulette. For a long time, you could only play roulette in either Monte Carlo or Las Vegas. This exclusivity actually caused the game to boom in popularity and many people were happy to try it out.

Roulette wheel

Nowadays, the monopoly on roulette has eased. You can find it at pretty much any casino you could visit. You can also play it online at NetBet roulette and other sites. Playing it online means you can enjoy roulette from the comfort of your own home, and you can choose between a preprogrammed game not too dissimilar from a slot or a live game happening in real-time with a live dealer. No matter how you choose to play, you will be able to find a good game somewhere.

One major reason why roulette has stayed so popular will definitely be its simplicity to play. No matter how in-depth you make your bets, you will soon be able to pick up the game. The simplest bets of all are simply red or black; will the ball land on a red number or a black number? You can also bet on even or odds or high or low numbers, just to name a few of the combinations. However, in most games of roulette, you will lose if a 0 comes up.

More complicated bets are referred to as inside bets. They can include betting on one number alone or on several at once. People play roulette with all sorts of styles. If you are a new player, a patient croupier will always be happy to talk you through how to play the game if you want to place complicated bets. Otherwise, you could happily just bet red or black all evening. Blackjack and poker both require skill and strategy; while some does apply to roulette you can make it much easier for yourself if you choose.

Roulette is easy to play and even easier to find at a casino. This game has been popular for a very long time for a reason. It’s time for you to give the roulette wheel a spin today!

Classic Roulette vs Variants with a Twist

Most of us have a favourite casino game, perhaps a variant of roulette or something else like blackjack or a specific slot. In terms of psychology, it’s not always a rational pick, i.e. we don’t always play games or strategies with the best chance of winning. In a way, we choose what it comfortable, perhaps based on past experiences.

Most people on this site will have a favourite roulette game, of course. Sure, some of us will study the numbers – house-edge for live games, RTP for virtual roulette games – but in some cases, they will just have a favourite regardless of the numbers. How else can you explain players’ love of American roulette when European versions have a better rate of return?

Some variants are worth your attention

However, what about all the countless roulette variants out there? Games with a gimmick or bit of a twist? Should they be avoided? Not at all. Like every other type of media on the planet, there are good and bad roulette variants, some which can even trump the classic version.

A good place to start is with the Age of the Gods Roulette, available to play at Mansion Casino and other sites with Playtech games. If you are not familiar with the premise, it’s like American roulette with a couple of important differences. First, instead of the double zero position, there is a bonus position on the wheel, which will award anything from 15 times your bet to 300 times your bet.

More importantly, however, the game is connected to a progressive jackpot network, which spans all Age of the Gods casino games. Put simply, it means that any wager on roulette – regardless of winning or losing the main game – could randomly trigger the jackpot game. The fact the jackpot could be worth millions adds an extra layer of excitement to the game.

Gimmick games can be a refreshing change of pace

If, however, Age of the Gods does things right by adding some innovative extras while keeping the fundamentals of roulette, others can go off script. Things like Pinball Roulette from Playtech’s subsidiary Ash Gaming change the basis of the roulette game – in this case by taking the roulette wheel out – but can still remain popular due to (depending on tastes) a fun premise and a high RTP at 97.30%.

Microgaming’s Multi-Wheel Roulette also maintains a high RTP at 97.30%, but obviously there are decisions to be made in terms of the number of wheels – up to a maximum of 8 – that can be played. Again, this is a question of taste. Despite the numbers being the same, some players prefer the choice of multiple bets across different wheels rather than simply placing larger bets on a classic roulette game.

In the end, there is probably no right answer. Most experience roulette players will look at games with a high RTP (or house edge if live) and betting limits to suit their level, before treating things like graphics and gameplay as secondary. But it’s important to find that balance between what you like to play and maximising your returns. If it’s a virtual game, no amount of roulette strategy will help if you are playing for a lower RTP. However, like a roulette betting pattern, changing up your game choice can feel refreshing now and again.
